There is a newly-formed
"Friends of the Casa" which aims to provide a worldwide focus for news and
information about the Casa. Their website is at
www.friendsofthecasa.org
If you want to travel
independently, this is the best source of
up-to-date practical information.
I have always stayed at the
guesthouse (or "pousada") of Martin and Fernanda. Martin speaks English and
works at the Casa as an interpreter. (Email:
sol.luna@terra.com.br)
There is currently one book in
English about "John of God", THE MIRACLE MAN by Robert Pellegrino-Estrich.
It is a very helpful and well-intentioned account, although it has been
criticised for tending to exaggerate the numbers of spontaneous healings
which happen at the Casa. Robert and his wife Caterina are the most
experienced of the increasing number of group leaders who offer guided
visits to the Casa de Dom Inacio. (They also have a website,
www.johnofgod.com).
Due for publication in 2002 are
two more books about the Casa:
THE BOOK OF
MIRICLES by Josie RavenWing (available from
www.amazon.com)
SPIRTUAL
ALLIANCES: Discovering the roots of health at the Casa de Dom Inacio, by Emma Bragdon
(available via her website www.emmabragdon.com)
Guided tours have become
increasingly big business in the past year or so, and some of those offering
tours are, in my view, not properly qualified. Those I can personally
recommend are:
